Originally a hill top wind mill with adjacent cottages this property had been extended and adapted over time. The mill tower had been truncated and merged with additional living accommodation and the building was in a need of a bit of tlc. The practice’s response to our client’s brief for a new garden room, was to replace an ill-considered extension and create a new front facing entrance, connecting hallway, and a new living room that properly engaged with the garden views, split level terraces and the south orientation. The high volume, light flooded spaces are oak framed and use passive solar design principles and natural materials throughout. The high quality of the scheme is a satisfying reflection of the positive commitment from a great project team and great clients.
